This study aims to understand the effect of parenting parents on child development, especially in the context of the scavenger family in Tapian Nauli Village, Environment IX, Sunggal Village, Medan Sunggal District.

The scavenger family is a group of people who earn their living by collecting and selling waste materials. From this population, 24 children were used as samples using the purposive sampling method. The research method used is an explanation method with a quantitative approach.

Data Analysis

The data that has been collected was then analyzed with product moment correlation techniques. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant influence between parenting and child development. The results of data processing show that the correlation value obtained is greater than the correlation value in the table, which means zero hypothesis is rejected and alternative hypotheses are accepted. This shows that parenting parents have a positive impact on children's development.
