Introduction

The selection of superior soybean varieties is a crucial aspect of increasing agricultural productivity. The research conducted on the agroecotechnology land of the University of North Sumatra (USU) from March to August 2017 aimed to identify selected individuals from the F4 generation soybean population which has the character of the Age of Ephemy and High Production Potential. The researchers observed various important parameters that include flowering age, harvest age, plant height, number of primary branches, number of pods containing per plant, number of seeds per plant, as well as seed weight per plant and weight of 100 seeds.

Results

The results showed that there were nineteen samples of genotypes that were prominent because they had high-aged characters and high production results. Each row resulting from crossing shows a significant advantage in terms of growth and results, which are important indicators in the selection of superior soybean varieties.
